Towards UV-completing supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model

The possibility that extensions of the Standard Model can be UV-completed thanks to an interacting (rather than free) UV fixed point has sparked a lot of interest. In this talk, I report on the progress towards finding interacting UV completions with supersymmetry. I explain why scenarios with supersymmetry are significantly more constrained, and therefore more predictive, than those without supersymmetry, or those with asymptotic freedom. To illustrate the structure of results in supersymmetry, I discuss SU(N) x SU(M) gauge theories coupled to chiral matter fields exploiting perturbation theory, the a-theorem, and unitarity, and identify all UV and IR fixed points, including their conformal windows and phase diagrams. Implications for model building and supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model are indicated.
